GLASS TENNIS STADIUM
an extraordinary, universally acclaimed and unprecedented work of art!
A match between John McEnroe and Jimmy Conners recreated in a champion tennis match.
A stadium of this size has never been seen before.
On an area of approx. 6 square meters, the stadium shows everything that belongs to a tennis match: from the tennis ball to the linesmen, cameramen and players. Even the head referee has been thought of, in his high chair with a tiny glass microphone. It is impressive how the glass artists reproduce the atmosphere of the close score in this match: 4:4 both and deuce in the third and deciding set.
The precision and attention to detail of this artwork is breathtaking, with the tiny champagne bottles and glasses, the floodlights, even the sponsor banners and the spectators clapping their hands - just like in real life.
The stadium was created in collaboration with world-renowned glass artists such as Walter Wiesmüller and his team. Mr. Wiesmüller's experience spans more than two decades.
The glass artist Walter Wiesmüller was born in Reisbach/Vils in Bavaria. His passion and understanding of the universe have inspired him to create many extraordinary works.
It took around eight months to build the stadium. The world premiere of the first presentation was on the occasion of the international ATP Champions Senior Tour in U.S.A
This time was dedicated to the exact replication of all the details of the stadium that hosts the Senior Champions Tennis Tour. The tennis tournament was in the news all week, but the Glass Tennis Stadium was the talk of the town and the Champions Tour players at the evening gala.
The glass stadium is a sight to behold: a glass court measuring 70 x 90 cm, frosted glass for the lines and a glass net; the players represented by photos; cameramen, ball boys, linesmen and the scoreboard. There are 4 VIP boxes with flags, tables, chairs, spectators, champagne bottles, buckets and glasses. Approx. 665 people have been recreated in glass. Please find attached some photos to get an impression of this stadium, which consists of approx. 1280 individual parts.
It is a unique work of art; rarely do you find such dedication to precision and the energy that has gone into this fantastic piece of work, the “Center Court”. It is a must-see!
